Tube Bending

Your resource and application advisors for tube bending knowledge. Let us be your tube fabricating gurus. We are pleased to consult with you on how to best optimize your tubular design or product for optimum manufacturability. Learn how to specify your material requirements, tooling and process to insure the exact part or product you require yet allow for the most economical manufacturing approach.

Your moderate volume to high volume parts using tubing 3/8" to 3" in round, square, rectangular or shaped can be economically processed. Secondary processing available for coping, drilling, dimpling, welding and finishing is available.

Here are the three general categories of bends available at Ever-Roll. Discuss the many variations of these options with our experts.

Mandrel
Bending with a mandrel produces the tightest, roundest, truest bend. Bends with centerline bend radii equal to the tube diameter are possible. For best aesthetic appeal even gentler bends benefit from mandrel bending. Highest in craftsmanship it is also less economical than other processes.

Ever-Roll is world class in mandrel bending. Discuss the rewards of this process with us and explore the various tooling options.
Rotary Draw
Bending via Rotary Draw produces a very tight, round, true bend. It is the same process as Mandrel Bending without the mandrel on the inside of the tube. Bends with centerline bend radii equal to 1 ½ times the tube diameter are possible. Rotary Draw bending can often produce very acceptable craftsmanship at a value.
Press Bending
Highly productive low cost bending process that can produce excellent results in the right applications. You have seen these types of bends used on many grill legs and other bend tubular furniture and appliances. In Press bending (also known as Ram Forming or Vertical Bending) a ram pushes the tube between two pressure dies. Unless the bend radius is very generous, the inside of the bend wants to collapse and the outside of the bend tries to flatten. By designing special tools your bend can be made to carefully fold or form the material on the inside of the bend in a manner that supports the outside of the bend preventing the flattening yet maintaining the strength of the tube.

This can be an elegant answer for structural frames and many different parts that require strength yet maximum productivity and economy.
Press Worked Tubes
Piercing
Flattening
Coping
Forming

Highly productive low cost process that can produce excellent results for your moderate to high volume applications.

Utilizing several standard dies or building a dedicated tool to produce a complete part, your tubes can be produced complete.

This can be an elegant answer for structural frames, mechanism tubes, sliding bolt tubes, spring retainer tubes, and many different parts that require special end shapes, sizing, holes, slots, etc with maximum productivity and economy.

Wire Bending

High Volume

Automatic Secondary Processes
Your source for high volume, high quality, specialized wire parts. Your unique part is tooled in a dedicated tooling plate and produced utilizing a common machine base, control, hydraulics, feeder and straightener shared with other tooling plates, Very similar to a stamping die in a press shared among many dies,

The specialized tooling plate allows for double bends, flattening, minor broaching and two out parts to be processed. Ask us if this process would benefit your wire design. When this process is a good fit it can be most highly economical.
